Parabita (LE), 3 October 2025 – The Municipality of Parabita (in the province of Lecce) has launched, together with FiberCop, the “Fatti della stessa fibra” (made from the same fibre) project to bring next-generation fibre into residents’ homes and local businesses, connecting the whole community to a fast, reliable and sustainable telecommunications network.

The project, fully financed by FiberCop, which manages the country’s most extensive and widespread digital infrastructure, was presented yesterday by the company to citizens during a public meeting attended by the Mayor of Parabita, Stefano Prete, who emphasised: “The Municipal Authority expresses its satisfaction with the launch of this project, which represents a pilot in a few areas in Italy and a significant step forward towards digitalisation and technological innovation. This collaboration with FiberCop, the result of a memorandum of understanding signed last July, will lead to important investments in digital infrastructure that will offer new opportunities for families, businesses, and local institutions, improving quality of life and making our area increasingly connected and competitive.”

Thanks to FiberCop’s fibre, the Parabita area will have an ultra-fast connection to the Internet that will accelerate the digitalisation of households, businesses and public administration, enabling innovative services such as 4K/8K streaming, remote work, smart home management through home automation devices, telemedicine and digital services including traffic management, street lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, fibre will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

Pre-installation for fibre connectivity will be carried out at no cost to residents: a FiberCop technician, by appointment booked via www.fibercopaparabita.it, will install the outlet inside the home. Immediately after installation, users can ask their chosen telecoms operator to activate the ultra-fast service and start using the new network.

Planned works

The works, which began in August in Via Kennedy, Via Gorizia, and Via Zara, will progressively extend to other areas of the city, with the aim of covering the entire municipality by the first half of 2026.

Wherever possible, existing infrastructure will be used for fibre installation. Where excavations are required, innovative, low-impact techniques will be adopted. FiberCop will work with the Municipal Authority to minimise the impact on traffic and to proceed swiftly with delivery of the new network.
