ANCI–FIBERCOP: NAPLES HOSTS THE ROADSHOW TO SUPPORT FIBRE OPTIC DEVELOPMENT ACROSS LOCAL AREAS
- 16 December 2025 - Corporate
Naples, 16 December 2025 – The second leg of the “FiberCop per lo sviluppo dei territori” [FiberCop for Local Development] roadshow took place in Naples at the Sala Giunta of Palazzo San Giacomo. The initiative was organised by ANCIcomunicare under the patronage of ANCI and with the technical contribution of FiberCop, the company managing Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, with approximately 27 million kilometres of fibre optic network laid nationwide.
The roadshow provides a valuable opportunity for exchanging technical expertise on the most advanced and sustainable methods for building digital infrastructure. A key focus is on narrow-trench excavation techniques, such as micro-trenching, which help shorten project timelines, reduce costs and improve the efficiency of road surface restoration, while ensuring safety and protecting local areas.
After today's event, which opened with institutional greetings from Pasquale Granata, Director General of the Municipality of Naples, and concluded with Maria Grazia Falciatore, Chief of Staff of the Municipality of Naples, the events will continue in the cities of Turin, Bologna, and Livorno.
“We fully share this challenge” said Francesco Morra, President of ANCI Campania. “Digitalisation is not an end in itself, but a tool to deliver tangible improvements in services for citizens and to support the development of local areas. Modern and sustainable digital infrastructure is an essential prerequisite for a more efficient, transparent public administration that is really close to local communities.”
“Developing the fibre optic network means investing in the future of our local communities: FiberCop turns connectivity into concrete opportunities for citizens, businesses and public administrations, through sustainable, low-impact infrastructure enabled by innovative techniques such as micro-trenching,” said Angela Gargani, Public Affairs Director at FiberCop. “The roadshow, organised in collaboration with ANCI, is a valuable opportunity to engage directly with municipalities, share expertise and jointly build resilient networks that are essential for smart cities, advanced digital services and more connected communities.”
