ANCI–FIBERCOP: TURIN HOSTS THE ROADSHOW TO SUPPORT FIBRE OPTIC DEVELOPMENT ACROSS LOCAL AREAS
- 27 January 2026 - Corporate
Turin, 27 January 2026 – The third leg of the “FiberCop per lo sviluppo dei territori” [FiberCop for Local Development] roadshow took place in Turin at the Sala Stemmi of the Metropolitan City. The initiative was organised by ANCIcomunicare under the patronage of ANCI and with the technical contribution of FiberCop, the company managing Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, with approximately 27 million kilometres of fibre optic network laid nationwide.
The roadshow provides a valuable opportunity for exchanging technical expertise on the most advanced and sustainable methods for building digital infrastructure. A key focus is on narrow-trench excavation techniques, such as micro-trenching, which help shorten project timelines, reduce costs and improve the efficiency of road surface restoration, while ensuring safety and protecting local areas.
Today’s event started with opening remarks by Davide Gilardino, Mayor of Ronsecco, President of the Province of Vercelli and President of ANCI Piemonte, and Michele Pianetta, Vice President for Innovation at ANCI Piemonte.
“The digital transition is vital to ensuring the competitiveness of our municipalities, from large urban centres to small villages”, said President Davide Gilardino. “ANCI Piemonte warmly welcomes this roadshow because it offers concrete solutions to the daily challenges local administrators face: namely, balancing the deployment of strategic infrastructure like fibre optics with the preservation of urban heritage and the sustainability of construction sites. We believe it is essential to accelerate digitisation while minimising disruption for citizens and regions. Public-private partnership is the only way forward to bridge the digital divide and transform Piedmont into a truly connected, cutting-edge region.”
“Developing the fibre optic network means investing in the future of our local communities: FiberCop turns connectivity into concrete opportunities for citizens, businesses and public administrations, through sustainable, low-impact infrastructure enabled by innovative techniques such as micro-trenching,” said Angela Gargani, Public Affairs Director at FiberCop. “The roadshow, organised in collaboration with ANCI, is a valuable opportunity to engage directly with municipalities, share expertise and jointly build resilient networks that are essential for smart cities, advanced digital services and more connected communities.”
The roadshow will continue in the coming weeks with new steps across the country, confirming the shared commitment of ANCI and FiberCop to promoting modern, sustainable digital infrastructure that serves local communities.
