FiberCop, the company managing Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, has started works to strengthen the fibre optic internet network to homes (FTTH) in the area of Monte San Pietro, in the province of Bologna. 

The projects, entirely funded by FiberCop, will involve various areas of the municipality, with the aim of gradually making ultra-fast connections available.

The digital infrastructure set up by FiberCop will reach up to 10 Gigabits per second, allowing the acceleration of the digitalisation of households, businesses and public administration, and enables innovative services such as 4K streaming, remote work, telemedicine and digital services including traffic management, street lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, fibre will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

Citizens can check service availability with their chosen telecoms operator and request activation to benefit immediately from the performance of the new network.

Planned works

The planned works will concern the entire municipal territory.

Existing infrastructure will be used where possible to build the network, while new excavations, where necessary, will be carried out according to environmentally sustainable criteria. FiberCop will work to limit the impact on traffic and proceed quickly with the construction of the new network.
