FiberCop has joined the Italian Institute of Artificial Intelligence (AI4I) as a participating member, strengthening its dialogue with the research community and its commitment to developing innovative solutions for the country.

Membership of AI4I forms part of a wider initiative aimed at promoting innovation and enhancing digital infrastructure. FiberCop will draw on its expertise and extensive network to contribute to the development of new AI-based applications, with a particular focus on the evolution of the Edge Cloud – a model that enables data and services to be processed close to users and local areas, reducing response times and improving performance.

One key focus of the partnership is the creation of a joint laboratory for testing innovative Edge Cloud use cases. The laboratory will concentrate on the development and validation of advanced applications capable of enabling high-performance services close to local communities, integrating distributed computing capabilities and network infrastructure.

FiberCop will bring its national infrastructure to the partnership, characterised by a widespread presence and a growing shift towards distributed computing models – key factors in the development of next-generation digital services. For AI4I, the Joint Lab is a further step in its strategy to connect research, computing infrastructure and the industrial sector, drawing on the expertise of its Research, Development and Engineering Centre, the AI Foundry and a national ecosystem of scientific and industrial partners focused on the development and deployment of advanced artificial intelligence applications.

The partnership forms part of an open innovation model focused on technology transfer and the creation of shared value, with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of the Italian industrial sector and accelerating the adoption of AI-based solutions.
