Ascoli Piceno 16 July 2025 – FiberCop, the company managing Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, is continuing to strengthen the fibre optic internet network in the area of Ascoli Piceno, in close coordination with the Municipal Authority. Works to build the new ultra-broadband network have already reached several areas of the municipality, with the aim of progressively making ultra-fast connections available. The project will bring fibre directly into homes. The digital infrastructure enables speeds of up to 2.5 Gigabits per second and, in the coming months, up to 10 Gigabits per second.

Thanks to FiberCop’s fibre, the municipality of Ascoli Piceno will have infrastructure that will accelerate the digitalisation of households, businesses and public administration, enabling innovative services such as 4K streaming, remote work, telemedicine and digital services including traffic management, street lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, fibre will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

“Building a fibre infrastructure is a fundamental step for the future of our area; it is a strategic choice that will allow us to bridge the digital divide and offer our citizens and businesses the opportunities of an increasingly connected and competitive society”, said Marco Fioravanti, Mayor of Ascoli Piceno.

“Our priority is also to support the deployment of the fibre infrastructure while minimising disruption to traffic and ensuring road safety. For this reason, the works will be carried out with careful planning and efficient management, in order to minimise the impact on the road network and ensure the prompt completion of the works”, added Marco Cardinelli, Councillor for Public Works of the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno.

Planned works

In particular, the works are affecting most of the municipal area, including outlying areas, and will continue through the first months of 2026.

Wherever possible, existing infrastructure will be used for fibre installation, including public lighting ducts. Where excavations are required, innovative, low-impact techniques will be adopted. FiberCop will work with the Municipal Authority to minimise the impact on traffic and proceed swiftly with delivery of the new network.
