FIBERCOP: WORK CONTINUES ON THE NEW FIBRE NETWORK IN CASTEL D’AZZANO

Castel d’Azzano (Verona), 17 September 2025 – FiberCop, the company managing Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, is continuing to strengthen the fibre optic internet network in the area of Castel d’Azzano, in the province of Verona, in close coordination with the Municipal Authority. Works to build the new ultra-broadband network have already reached several areas of the municipality, with the aim of progressively making ultra-fast connections available.

The project, fully financed by FiberCop, will bring fibre directly into homes. The digital infrastructure enables speeds of up to 2.5 Gigabits per second and, in the coming months, up to 10 Gigabits per second, supporting the digitalisation of households, businesses and public administration and enabling innovative services such as 4K streaming, remote work, telemedicine and digital services including traffic management, street lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, fibre will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

Residents can check service availability with their chosen telecoms operator and request activation to benefit immediately from the performance of the new network.

Deputy Mayor Antonello Panuccio commented: “This important investment by FiberCop in Castel d’Azzano is a great source of satisfaction for us. Our area is much in demand among new families looking for a place to live, and having a fast, reliable data network is one of their top requirements. Our daily lives now depend on digitalisation, remote work and fast access to the Internet. This major infrastructure project inevitably involves some disruption due to the many works underway to bring fibre to every corner of the country; nevertheless, it is an exceptional opportunity, and the end result will be a collective benefit for businesses and residents alike, whatever their activity. These investments are more than necessary to be better equipped for the future. Our Municipality is now modern.

FiberCop continues to invest in the country’s digital transformation, promoting the adoption of fibre and facilitating access to advanced services across its territory”, said Gianni Crocetti, FiberCop’s Head of Operations for Northeastern Italy. “The availability of infrastructure that can handle ever-growing traffic volumes over stable, high-speed connections will support businesses in developing their activities and improve quality of life for citizens, contributing to the growth of the local economy.

Planned works

Wherever possible, existing infrastructure will be used for fibre installation, including public lighting ducts. Where excavations are required, innovative, low-impact techniques will be adopted. FiberCop will work with the Municipal Authority to minimise the impact on traffic and proceed swiftly with delivery of the new network.
