FIBERCOP BRINGS ULTRA-FAST FIBRE TO BORGONOVO VAL TIDONE

“Made of the Same Fibre” campaign launched with signing of MoU between FiberCop and local council

Borgonovo Val Tidone (Italy) – The Italian town of Borgonovo Val Tidone and FiberCop have launched the “Made of the Same Fibre” campaign to bring latest-generation FTTH connections to the homes of citizens and local businesses, connecting the entire community to a fast, reliable and sustainable telecommunications network.

The initiative was launched today with the signing of a memorandum of understanding and is fully funded by FiberCop, which manages the most widespread and extensive digital infrastructure in the country, available to all telecoms operators. Local mayor Monica Patelli said: “The launch of this project is a big and meaningful step for the future of our community. Bringing fibre-optic internet to Borgonovo Val Tidone offers citizens and businesses new opportunities for growth, innovation and development, while reducing the digital divide. This strategic infrastructure will improve the quality of life by making our town more attractive and competitive and services more efficient and sustainable. We will hold a public meeting in the near future to explain all the details of the project. Thank you FiberCop for this partnership, which makes a meaningful contribution to the future of our town.”

FiberCop's fibre-optic connections will give Borgonovo Val Tidone an ultra-fast network that will speed up digitalisation for citizens, businesses and the public administration, enabling innovative services such as 4K/8K streaming, remote working, smart home management, telemedicine, and digital services such as traffic management, public lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, the new connections will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

The required work for fibre connections will be carried out at no cost for citizens and businesses, with a FiberCop engineer available (upon reservation) to install the termination box inside properties. Once the connection is ready, the user can contact their telephone operator to request the activation of ultrafast internet and start benefiting from the performance of the new network. Information channels for the campaign will be announced in the coming days, making it possible to verify network coverage, find information, get support, and sign up.

Works have already started in the Palazzetto area and will continue into the park area and central streets, until the entire municipality is covered by the end of 2026. Existing infrastructures will be used where possible for the installation of the fibre-optic cables, using innovative techniques with low environmental impact. FiberCop will work with the council to limit the impact on traffic and make rapid progress with the delivery of the new network.

The “Made of the Same Fibre” initiative confirms FiberCop’s commitment to accelerating the digital transformation of Italy and its towns. This new approach places citizens and businesses at the heart of the process of digitalising communities, simplifying the experience of activating FTTH technology and promoting a more conscious use of connectivity opportunities.
