FIBERCOP BRINGS ULTRA-FAST FIBRE TO PRATA DI PORDENONE

Prata di Pordenone, 27 February 2026 – FiberCop, the company managing Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, has started works to strengthen the fibre optic internet network to homes (FTTH) in the area of Prata di Pordenone, in close coordination with the Municipal Authority.

The activities to deliver the new ultra-broadband network, promoted and entirely financed by FiberCop, will cover several areas of the municipality, with the aim of progressively making ultra-fast connections available.

The digital infrastructure put in place by FiberCop can reach speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second and will accelerate the digitalisation of households, businesses and public administration, enabling innovative services such as 4K streaming, remote work, telemedicine and digital services including traffic management, street lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, fibre will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

"This is a strategic intervention of great importance for the future of our territory. Investing in connectivity means investing in the development, competitiveness, and quality of life of our community. Today, the fiber optic network has become an essential infrastructure, comparable in importance to roads, electricity, and water networks. It is no longer an ‘additional’ service, but a foundation on which the daily lives of families, businesses, and public administrations are based – states Katia Cescon, Mayor of Prata di Pordenone. – We are aware that roadworks and interventions on the road surface may cause temporary inconvenience to traffic and the daily lives of citizens. We therefore ask everyone for a little patience and cooperation: this work is necessary to ensure that our region has modern infrastructure that is up to current and future challenges. Together with the technical office and FiberCop, we are closely monitoring the progress of the work to ensure that it is carried out with the utmost care to restore the affected areas.”

“FiberCop continues to invest in the country’s digital transformation, promoting the adoption of fibre and facilitating access to advanced services across its territory,” says Gianni Crocetti, FiberCop’s Head of Operations for Northeastern Italy. “The availability of infrastructure that can handle ever-growing traffic volumes over stable, high-speed connections will support businesses in developing their activities and improve quality of life for citizens, contributing to the growth of the local economy.”

The planned works

The works, which have already begun in the Prata Artisan Zone and in Le Monde, will continue in the hamlet of Villanova. From April, the new ultra-fast connectivity services will be available for commercialization for lines connected to the new infrastructure. Further cabling work is planned to start by the end of the year and will continue until most of the municipal area is covered by the first quarter of 2027.

Wherever possible, existing infrastructure will be used to deliver the network. Where new excavation is required, it will be carried out using innovative, low-impact techniques, with narrow trenching approximately 10–15 centimetres wide. FiberCop will work to minimise the impact on traffic and proceed swiftly with delivery of the new network.

Citizens can check service availability with their chosen telecoms operator and request activation to benefit immediately from the performance of the new network.
