FIBERCOP ENHANCES CAPRI’S FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK: THE ISLAND BECOMES INCREASINGLY CONNECTED
- 18 December 2025 - Market
Capri, 18 December 2025 – FiberCop, the company that manages Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, is continuing to strengthen the fibre optic internet network in the area of Capri. Works to build the new ultra-broadband network have already reached several areas of the municipality, with the aim of progressively making ultra-fast connections available.
The digital infrastructure put in place by FiberCop in Capri can reach speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second and will accelerate the digitalisation of households, businesses and public administration, enabling innovative services such as 4K streaming, remote work, telemedicine and digital services including traffic management, street lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, fibre will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.
Residents can check service availability with their chosen telecoms operator and request activation to benefit immediately from the performance of the new network.
“We appreciate FiberCop’s efforts to improve local services and infrastructure for the benefit of residents and businesses”, said the Mayor of Capri, Paolo Falco. “In this spirit, as a public authority, we have ensured the closest cooperation to support the successful completion of the works and minimise any inconvenience to citizens.”
“FiberCop continues to invest in the country’s digital transformation, promoting the adoption of fibre and facilitating access to advanced services across its territory”, said Massimo Zaffiro, FiberCop’s Head of Operations for southern Italy. “The availability of infrastructure that can handle ever-growing traffic volumes over stable, high-speed connections will support businesses in developing their activities and improve quality of life for citizens, contributing to the growth of the local economy.”
Works carried out
Wherever possible, existing infrastructure was used to install the new network, including public lighting ducts. Excavation works, where required, have been carried out according to environmental sustainability criteria. FiberCop will work to minimise the impact on traffic and proceed swiftly with delivery of the new network.
