FIBERCOP: WORK BEGINS ON THE NEW FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK IN TAVAZZANO CON VILLAVESCO

Tavazzano con Villavesco (Lodi), 30 March 2026 – FiberCop, the company managing Italy’s most extensive and far-reaching digital infrastructure, has started works to strengthen the fibre optic internet network to homes (FTTH) in the area of Tavazzano con Villavesco, in the province of Lodi, in close coordination with the Municipal Authority.

The activities to deliver the new ultra-broadband network, promoted and entirely financed by FiberCop, will cover several areas of the municipality, with the aim of progressively making ultra-fast connections available.

The digital infrastructure put in place by FiberCop can reach speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second and will accelerate the digitalisation of households, businesses and public administration, enabling innovative services such as 4K streaming, remote work, telemedicine and digital services including traffic management, street lighting and environmental monitoring. In addition, fibre will help the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

“The start of construction on the fiber-optic network marks an important milestone for our community. This project will gradually provide families, students, and businesses—including those in outlying neighborhoods—with access to ultra-fast internet connections, making our municipality more modern and better equipped to meet the challenges of the coming years. The work will be staggered over time, beginning in April, to minimize disruption to traffic: we ask for the cooperation and patience of our citizens from the outset, assuring them that the Administration will closely monitor the progress of the construction sites to ensure they proceed as smoothly and quickly as possible,” states Giuseppe Russo, Mayor of  Tavazzano con Villavesco.

“FiberCop continues to invest in the country’s digital transformation, promoting the adoption of fibre and facilitating access to advanced services across its territory– ”, says Rosario Cristaudo, FiberCop’s Head of Operations for Northwestern Italy. “The availability of infrastructure that can handle ever-growing traffic volumes over stable, high-speed connections will support businesses in developing their activities and improve quality of life for citizens, contributing to the growth of the local economy.

The planned works

The work, which will be carried out in phases, will begin in April and continue until it covers most of the municipal area.

Wherever possible, existing infrastructure will be used to deliver the network. Where new excavation is required, it will be carried out using innovative, low-impact techniques, with narrow trenching approximately 10–15 centimetres wide. FiberCop will work to minimise the impact on traffic and proceed swiftly with delivery of the new network.

Citizens can check service availability with their chosen telecoms operator and request activation to benefit immediately from the performance of the new network.
